Using the AI Compliance Assistant

What the AI Can Do for You

PensionPortal.ai includes an AI Compliance Assistant that you can ask plain-language questions about your IORP II obligations, scheme governance, and how to use the platform. The AI is designed to:
  • Explain complex regulatory requirements in plain language
  • Help you understand what a specific obligation means for your scheme
  • Draft narrative sections for documents like the ORA (subject to your review and approval)
  • Answer questions about the ACS, KFH requirements, written policies, and other compliance topics
  • Point you to the relevant section of the Pensions Authority’s guidance

How it’s Grounded in PA Regulatory Documents

The AI is not a generic language model that guesses at regulatory requirements. It is grounded in a curated set of Pensions Authority regulatory documents, including:
  • The IORP II Regulations 2021
  • PA Guidance Notes on governance requirements
  • ACS filing guidance
  • ORA guidance
  • KFH guidance
  • DORA implementation guidance
When the AI answers a question, it references the specific regulatory source. You can click through to the original document to verify the answer.
The regulatory landscape changes. The platform’s document library is updated when the Pensions Authority issues new guidance, but there may be a lag. Always verify important regulatory positions with your advisers.

The Most Important Thing: AI Outputs Require YOUR Approval

The AI drafts — you decide.Every document the AI produces (ORA narrative, policy text, compliance notes) requires your review and explicit approval before it becomes part of the scheme’s compliance record. The AI cannot sign off on anything. Only trustees can do that.Do not treat AI-generated text as automatically correct or compliant. Read it. Question it. Edit it where it doesn’t reflect your scheme’s actual circumstances. Then approve it.
This is a deliberate design choice. The Pensions Authority expects trustees to exercise genuine judgment — not to delegate it to a software tool.

Example Questions You Can Ask

Here are some examples of what to ask the AI: About your obligations:
  • “When is my ACS due and what happens if I miss the deadline?”
  • “What does IORP II require in terms of the Own-Risk Assessment?”
  • “How often do I need to review my written policies?”
  • “What is the 30-day KFH notification requirement?”
About specific situations:
  • “Our Investment Policy Statement hasn’t been reviewed in 4 years. What should I do?”
  • “One of our KFHs has just resigned. What steps do I need to take?”
  • “We’re changing our investment strategy. Does this trigger an ORA review?”
About the platform:
  • “How do I start a new ACS?”
  • “Where do I upload the KFH notification to the PA?”
  • “How does the dual sign-off process work for the ORA?”
For document drafting:
  • “Draft the cyber risk section of our ORA. Our scheme has [describe circumstances].”
  • “Help me write the introduction to our Risk Management Policy.”
  • “Summarise our compliance position for the board pack.”
